SOUTHERN BORDER TERRIER CLUB
FINDING A BREEDER
Join the Club
Joining the Southern Border Terrier Club is an excellent way to get in touch with our members who have a wealth of experience and knowledge to share. Come along to our shows and events where you will meet our members who will be more than willing to talk about their favourite breed.
The Southern Border Terrier Club aims to support responsible dog ownership and dog breeding. The Club is happy to help existing and potential owners with breed information and advice on how to find a breeder, but the club does not keep a record of puppies available or normally give out breeders contact details without prior permission.

All Southern Border Terrier Club members, including breeders, are required to adhere to our code of ethics.
Yearbook
All paid up members of the Southern Border Terrier Club receive a copy of the Club's Year Book. This publication is an informative and entertaining record of the Club and the breed during the past year. It also has contact details for Border Terrier owners, breeders and for Border Terrier Welfare.
Websites
The internet is a good way to find information about a breed especially on Breed Club websites but beware of websites selling dogs and puppies or offering dogs at stud. A breeder being on the internet or having a website does not indicate that they are a reputable breeder.
Before contacting a breeder, it is a good idea to do some research. Enter details, such as phone numbers or descriptions of puppies, into a search engine. Beware of details being used on lots of different adverts and sites, advertising many litters and puppies from many breeds.

Similarly, beware of puppies advertised on general selling sites or in newspaper classified adverts.
Kennel Club Assured Breeders
Visit the Kennel Club website to find out more about their Assured Breeders Scheme.
Reputable Breeders
It is important to remember that none of the places where you might find breeders’ contact details, whether it is through a breed club, online or from the Kennel Club, guarantees that you are getting in touch with a reputable breeder. When contacting any breeder, it is important that you follow guidance intended to help you identify a reputable breeder.
